Marketers at Mid-Sized Companies: Hear from an Expert Panel

Recently, DNN published a research report that
studied
marketers at mid-sized companies. We defined “mid-sized companies” as those
with 50 to 5,000 employees. To condense our research down to three words: “Marketing
Got Complicated.” While marketing is complicated for all of us, the complexity
is particularly keen in mid-sized companies, where expectations are still high,
but resources, budget and staff are limited.

We’re hosting a webinar on May 15, 2014 at 9am PT (12pm

marketers for their insights and advice.

Meet the Panel
I’m excited about the expert panel that we recruited. I’ll
serve as the moderator of the webinar, which will unfold as a panel discussion.
Let’s get a chance to meet each of them.
Sandra Zoratti, CMO and Author of Precision Marketing

I met Sandra through a common connection. She’s a CMO and
author of the book “Precision
Marketing: Maximizing Revenue Through Relevance.” While browsing through
the book’s page on Amazon, I noticed this quote from Joe Pulizzi of Content
Marketing Institute:
"Today's marketers can't survive without developing
valuable, compelling and relevant content to customers at the right time.
Precision Marketing uses some of the best research on the planet to show you
why, and how, to leverage the right information to substantially grow your
business. Read this book…then give it your CEO."
I plan to ask Sandra about developing compelling and
relevant content from the point of view of a mid-sized company. Because they
have far less resources than their enterprise-sized competitors, what smarts
can they use to prevent “content shock?”
Ian Gertler, CMO at Symplegades

I met Ian via Twitter. We tweet about similar topics and
ended up following each other. I noticed that Ian is a Yankees and New York
Giants fan: two of my favorite teams (I’m originally from New York). We’d
interact from time to time on Twitter.
Earlier this year, Ian turned up in
research
we did with Leadtail, studying the habits and tendencies of mid-sized
company marketers on Twitter. Ian made the list of
Top

Attention: mid-sized marketers. We’re delivering. You
mention Ian on Twitter and now you get to hear from him.

Jeff Korhan, Author of Built.in Social
Like Ian, I met Jeff on Twitter. Also like Ian, Jeff and
I traveled in similar circles (on Twitter) and tweeted about related topics.
Jeff is the author of
Built.in
Social: Essential Social Marketing Practices for Every Small Business. Jeff
helps businesses adapt their traditional growth practices to a digital world. I’m
a loyal reader of Jeff’s blog, at
JeffKorhan.com.
I plan to ask Jeff about tips he shares in his book and how they can be adapted
by marketers at mid-sized companies.
Scott Wilder, Global Nation Builder, Marketo

It’s a webinar for marketers, which is why we recruited
the nation builder from Marketing Nation (Marketo). I met Scott a few years
ago, while we were both at prior jobs. I read a piece that Scott
recently
wrote at CMSWire. His piece referenced similar research (about marketers)
and provided a roadmap (of sorts) for Chief Marketing Officers (CMO’s). I’ll
ask Scott to provide us withsimilar
roadmap for marketers at mid-sized companies.
