Azure Compatible

Since DNN V6.0, the DNN Core has been compatible with Windows Azure, specifically SQL Azure.

Windows Azure compatibility is maintained throughout all new release of DNN.

Extensions being written for DNN should be developed as Azure compatible to ensure maximum portability between Azure and on-premise hosting.

Developers interested in building Extensions which are compatible with Windows Azure should see Azure compatibility for DNN Extensions

There is also a special SQL Azure Compatibility Centre for common SQL Azure problems.

To deploy a DNN site on Windows Azure see the following resources:

Azure Folders

DotNetNuke 6 introduced the concept of Folder providers , which allow the DotNetNuke filesystem to work with different storage locations. The professional edition contains an Azure folder provider (and an Amazom S3 folder provider).

Windows Azure Websites

DNN is available as a deployable application using the Windows Azure Websites functionality. You will require a Windows Azure subscription to create a Windows Azure Website, and can then choose DNN from the list of applications.
